Passport-style photos

A head-and-shoulders photo easily fits in 50 KB at around 400–600 pixels wide with good quality.

Ranges like 20–50 KB

Some forms set a minimum too. Type 20 in the Minimum box and the tool keeps the file between both limits.

Works on your phone

Take the photo, open this page in your phone browser and compress it straight away.

Questions

Why does a form say my image is too large when it looks small?

Upload forms check the file size in kilobytes, not how big the picture looks. A phone photo is usually 2–5 MB (2,000–5,000 KB), so it has to be compressed and often resized to fit limits like 50 KB.

Will it ever go over my limit?

No. Some websites count 1 KB as 1,000 bytes and others as 1,024 bytes, so we use the stricter reading. A file that says 'under 50 KB' here passes either way.

What if the form also has a minimum size?

Enter it in the Minimum size box. If an image comes out too small, the tool raises the quality or the pixel size until it is between your minimum and maximum.

The form asks for exact pixel dimensions. Can I set those?

Yes. Enter the width and height (for example 200 × 230) and the image is cropped from the centre to that exact size before compressing.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything happens inside your browser on your own device. Your files are never sent to a server, which is faster and keeps private photos and documents private.

Is it free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.
